How it works

From order to bare metal

Dedicated hardware is physically allocated to you, so setup involves a person — but not many days.

  1. 1

    Pick your hardware

Choose the CPU, memory and disk configuration that matches your workload from the table above.

  2. 2

    We provision it

Your machine is racked, imaged with the OS you chose, and connected to the network.

  3. 3

    Take root access

Credentials and IP details arrive by email. The whole machine is yours, with nothing virtualised.

  4. 4

    Migrate and go live

Move your workload across at your own pace. Our team will help you plan the cutover.

Enterprise Grade

Every server includes

Every dedicated server includes these premium features at no extra cost.

DDoS Protection

Advanced mitigation to keep your server online during attacks.

Full Root Access

Complete control over your server environment and configuration.

99.9% Uptime

Guaranteed network availability for your critical applications.

Latest Hardware

Powered by the latest Intel Xeon and AMD EPYC processors.

Why bare metal

What a physical machine gives you that a VPS cannot

Virtualisation is the right answer most of the time. These are the cases where it is not.

Performance

Every cycle of the processor belongs to you

There is no hypervisor taking its cut and no other tenant on the box. For sustained CPU work — video encoding, large builds, analytics over big datasets — a dedicated machine delivers consistent throughput that a shared virtual environment cannot promise.

  • No hypervisor overhead or noisy neighbours

Network

Unmetered bandwidth and DDoS mitigation included

Transfer is unmetered, so a traffic spike does not arrive with a surprise invoice attached. Volumetric attacks are filtered upstream by hardware appliances before they reach your port, which matters when a single machine carries your entire workload.

  • Unmetered bandwidth on every server
  • Upstream DDoS filtering at no extra cost

Control and compliance

Single tenancy, and the hardware stays yours

Some workloads cannot share hardware at all, whether for a licence condition or a compliance requirement. On a dedicated server nothing else runs on the machine, you choose the operating system and kernel, and you can run virtualisation of your own on top if you want to.

  • Single-tenant hardware, no co-residency
  • Choose your own OS, kernel and hypervisor
  • 24/7 support and hardware replacement

Typical workloads

When dedicated hardware is the right call

Most projects never need bare metal. These are the ones that genuinely do.

Large databases

Datasets that must stay in memory, where paging to disk would wreck query times.

High-traffic commerce

Stores where checkout latency costs real revenue and capacity has to be certain.

Media and transcoding

Sustained, hours-long CPU work that a shared environment would throttle.

Private virtualisation

Run your own hypervisor and carve the machine up exactly as your team needs.

Compliance workloads

Requirements that rule out shared hardware or demand single tenancy outright.

Game servers

Latency-sensitive real-time workloads where scheduling jitter is immediately visible.

Dedicated server FAQ

Questions before you order

What customers ask us most before committing to bare metal.

Unlike a VPS, a physical machine has to be allocated and imaged, so it is not instant. Most servers are handed over within a few hours to one business day, and we will confirm the expected timing when you order.

The operating system and everything above it is yours to administer. We look after the hardware, the network and physical replacement of failed components. If you would rather not manage the OS yourself, ask us to quote for managed cover.

You are billed a flat monthly fee rather than per gigabyte transferred, at the port speed listed with your plan. Traffic spikes do not generate overage charges — the port speed is the limit, not a data cap.

Any mainstream Linux distribution, and Windows Server where you hold or purchase a licence. Because you control the machine you can also install your own hypervisor and run virtual machines on top.

We monitor the machines and replace failed components ourselves — that is part of what you are renting. Keep your own backups regardless, because a disk replacement restores the hardware, not your data.

Choose a VPS unless you have a specific reason not to. Bare metal is worth it when you need sustained full-CPU throughput, very large amounts of RAM, single tenancy for compliance, or you intend to run your own virtualisation.

Memory and storage can often be added to an existing machine during a scheduled maintenance window. A change of processor generally means moving to a different server, which we will help you plan and migrate.

Yes. Tell us what you are running now and our team will work through the migration plan with you, including a rehearsal and a cutover window chosen to minimise disruption.
